The small victories add up.
Mike’s phone vibrates at 1:30 a.m. The text is simple: “You up?”
“Yeah,” Mike replies. He’s up now, anyway.
“Call me if you got a sec and won’t wake anyone up.”
I just finished my fourth beer. I thought I could either talk to you or start number five.
Mike slips out of bed and makes the call from the kitchen.
“I just finished my fourth beer,” the veteran explains. “I thought I could either talk to you or start number five.”
